Are you waiting for surgery? Are you dreading the long and torturous rehab that follows? Make no mistake, and get some prehabilitation!
We all know that rehabilitation is often done after orthopedic surgeries to restore or enhance functional ability in those who have physical impairments or disabilities. It allows injured people to return to activities of daily living, workers to return to work, and athletes to return to sport. However, not many people are aware of "prehabilitation."
The goal of prehab is to enhance functional capacity prior to a surgical procedure. While rehab is crucial, adapting a prehab program beforehand can make a difference between post-surgery pain and recovery time. In some cases, it can even help to decrease the amount of rehab required. As I always say, the stronger you are going into surgery, the stronger you will be coming out of surgery.
Surgeries can be quite stressful, and if you think that you can minimize the risks and complications by getting prehabilitation beforehand, definitely make sure you do so as soon as possible!
